Coaching points
- Receive across the body so both sides stay in view before the first touch.
- The bounce is to the far foot, not into the nearest defender.
- If both defenders jump, the split is on. Play it first time.
- Defenders hunt as a pair: nearest presses, the other owns the lane.
Phrases to use
- “Far foot.”
- “See both sides before you touch it.”
- “If two jump, split them.”
- “Hunt together.”

- Shrink to 10×10.
- Must play the way they don’t face.
Regressions

- Widen to 16×16.
- Defenders must touch a cone before they press.
Common mistakes
Players hide on the same line as the ball and the rondo becomes a square.
One player has to sit between the defenders — the third man, not a spectator.
First touch kills the ball and the press arrives.
First touch is a preparation. Direct it away from the nearest defender.
Both defenders chase the same pass.
Nearest presses. The other owns the split lane.
